CMJ ’09 Winners Announced, Perennial Favorite Fails To Recapture Title

Recently, Indie Music Musings posted a story about the famous College Music Journal’s (CMJ) 2009 music festival in New York City. At CMJ ’09, the storied music journal announced the winners of its awards for American college radio stations.

Seattle’s KEXP, who has captured the ‘Station of the Year’ award from CMJ every year since the awards’ inception(Insert Year), failed to repeat its string of successes this year. The Seattle-based giant fell this year to KSSU, a Sacramento, CA based independent radio station on the campus of Sacramento State University who has never won the award (find their website here). The station awards were nominated and voted on by college/independent radio industry officials, and a variety of awards were presented to various stations, their DJ’s, and musicians featured on this network of broadcast stations.
